The Hall Of Fame Induction Weekend is one that is always memorable. From fans coming to see the history of baseball or people coming from Baltimore or San Diego to see the famous inductees from those cities get inducted, everyone has a chance for a fun-filled, sometimes emotional weekend.

For a complete wrap-up of the weekend's events, go to our special section.

Induction Ceremony Wraps Up

After a year of preparation and months of waiting for the inductees, Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr. are officially members of the National Baseball Hall Of Fame.

The ceremony was a memorable one capping off a weekend full of events. The inductees both gave great speeches with their family and friends watching along with thousands of fans.

Some well known people that attended today outside of the baseball realm is John Travolta, Richard Gere and Presidential Historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin.

John Travolta Has Arrived

The famed John Travolta has arrived to Clark Sports Center here in Cooperstown. We were told he is a personal family friend of the Ripkens.

Induction Ceremony Just Minutes Away

I am sitting here at the media tables just feet away from where Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn will appear to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame. There are thousands of people all over Clark Sports Center in what seems to be the biggest Induction Ceremony in recent memory.

The Famous Baseball Hall Of Fame Plaques

As most people know, every Baseball Hall Of Fame Inductee receives a spot in the famous Hall Of Fame Gallery. When we took our trip to Cooperstown, we learned some new information about these famed plaques.

These plaques are cast in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is interesting to note that the Inductees have absolutely no say in the plaque itself. Both the team logo on the hat and the paragraph of information are completely decided by the Hall Of Fame.

Granite pieces have been put in place for where the plaques are going to be placed this year.

Should McGwire Be Here This Year?

First of all, welcome to our Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend Blog. Throught the next two weeks we'll post blogs concerning different subjects, all of course relating to the Hall. We will also post different opinion polls to see what you think. Our first poll concerns the new Hall of Fame prospects for 2008.

Now, this years class is stellar. You couldn't ask for a more upstanding duo than Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn. However, five years ago everyone in Central New York was drooling over the possibility of having another big three year like we did in 1999 when Nolan Ryan, George Brett and Robin Yount were enshrined. Sadly, no Mark McGwire this year. Or is it sad? It would have meant thousands more fans and alot more money for the area. However, according to the Baseball Writers, Big Mac has some explaining to do. A few years back, in front on congress, was not his shinning moment. Since then, the writers have made their own determination that McGwire was cheating.....without drug test result whatsoever. So, he suffered in silence back in January when the calls went out to Ripken and Gywnn. Should we feel sorry for him only garnering 23.5 perecent of the vote? No, the one you feel sorry for is Goose Gossage, who next year should be a shoe in with a lackluster first time group. He missed by the narrowist of margins.
Don't feel bad for Big Mac, he knows what he did if anything. However, I feel sorry for the writers, who once again assume someone is guilty before proven guilty. But then again, thats what this country is built on. Freedom to choose. The writers chose Ripken and Gywnn. We'll bask in that on July 29th.

Let me know what you think, should McGwire have been elected this year, or at least did he deserve more votes? Does he ever deserve to be in the Hall?

There will be more posts soon and thanks for checking us out.
